Last Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday caused issues for some Office 2013 users by not letting them launch any Office application after applying June’s update.

According to a Microsoft statement the problem only impacts “less than 1%” of the user base for the product, but the number isn’t large enough to be consider a “high priority issue”. And it’s only affecting users using Office 2013 Click-to-Run technology, which basically is a method to stream a virtualized version of the applications instead of installing them directly into the PC.

For those affected, Microsoft is working on a permanent solution. In the meantime, users getting the error message: “We couldn’t start your program. Please try starting it again. If it wont start, try repairing Office from “programs and features” in the Control Panel.” , can fix the problem by simply uninstalling the current Office 2013 suite using this Microsoft’s Fix It patch . Then simply go to your Office account and download the product again.
